Bamburgh Blue Green Dreamscape – Original Painting

This painting is one of my “dreamscape” series- painted during lockdown, when Iwasn’t able to visit the Northumberland coast.

Starved of visiting my favourite places, they began totake on an almost mythic quality in my imagination. This prompted me towork using the paint in a more experimental, abstractway, working from memory rather than my more customary techniques. The results are almost dreamlike- less realistic than my regular paintings- but full ofemotion for the place.

This painting is a symphony of the soft blues and fresh greens of a summer’s day. It will bring asense of calm to any room.

Itwascreated using Artist’s acrylic paints and mediums on astretched cotton canvas. It is 40 x 50 cm wide and 3.8 cm deep. The paint continues round the edges, and the entire painting has had two coats of UVA matt varnish applied to protect against light and mechanical damage to the surface. It does not need to be behind glass or to be framed and is ready to hang.

It would nevertheless be wise to hang it out of direct sunlight.
