Tulip OClock in Rothbury

This painting, “Tulip O’clock – Rothbury” is of the village market place in late Spring, when the blossom and tulips make such a cheerful sight.

It would make a great companion piece to my other painting “Simonside in Spring”, which is the same size.

It was painted on wooden ply gesso board, which gives a fine, smooth painting surface and a very durable support. (Paintings created on gesso board in the Medieval period still hang in galleries all round the world.) It has been finished with two layers of UVA protective matt varnish, to protect against light and mechanical damage.

The painted areais 33 by35 cm. It has been finished with two layers of UVA protective matt varnish, toguard against light and mechanical damage. It is ready to hang and framed in a bespoke “double” frame, without glass. The outer dimensions of the framed work is 47 by 50 cm.
